It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all. pic.twitter.com/138AprtFuZ

The film has been billed by all involved to be the last chapter of the Skywalker family story which began with the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977.
Episode XI started filming in August 2018 at Pinewood studios and will see Richard E. Grant and Naomi Ackie join the returning cast of Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams and, posthumously, Carrie Fisher, thanks to previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Abrams who is very rarely on twitter was emotional, as he described to his 84 000 twitter followers, at first his disbelief at being at the end of this journey as well as effusively thanking everyone involved in the project.
