Aftershock Comics Announces New Series THE LYCAN
Thomas Jane, who portrayed The Punisher on the big screen, is no stranger to the comic book scene. His previous comic writing collaborations include Bad Planet, a six-issue series Alien Pig Farm 3000 for Image Comics’ RAW Studios imprint, both teaming with horror comic writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night). Now Jane is teaming with Aftershock Comics for a new series, The Lycan with veteran writer Mike Carey attached.
Set in 1777, the comic, created by David James Kelly and Jane, tells the story of a hardened band of international big game hunters, who while returning from Africa, are shipwrecked off a small British island. Once on the island, they meet Lord Ludgate, ruler of the island, who offers to give the men what they need to repair the ship, in return for a favor: hunt down the beast eating his subjects, and kill it.
In a state reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jane said about the upcoming project:
“I am beyond excited to be partnering with AfterShock Comics to develop the universe of Lycan. It’s a story I’ve been wanting to tell for a long time and I’m very lucky to have a great team of creators with David and Mike to bring it to life through the upcoming comic book series.”
The project is being developed under Jane’s Renegade Entertainment, which he co-founded with producer, director, and actress, Courtney Lauren Penn, who added:
“Being a company that prides itself on a maverick creative spirit and transmedia approach to storytelling, we’re beyond excited to segue into the comic world with Lycan, and to work alongside our amazing and like-minded partners at Aftershock Comics Their expertise and experience will be instrumental in bringing this universe to fans globally.”
Lycan will begin its initial six-issue run in the first half of 2022.
