NEWS WATCH: Red, White, & Broke: Confessions of a Superhero is Coming to Kickstarter

Bestselling author Michael Spring and Outtatime Comics have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the latest two issues of his hit comic book, RED, WHITE & BROKE: CONFESSIONS OF AN AMERICAN SUPER HERO. Spring has seen success with his prose novels in recent years with his BLOODSUCKER BLUES series of novels, the first book of which was an Amazon #1 Bestseller.

Spring is also the host of the hit podcast, After the Ending, which explores what happens after your favorite movies end.

The Kickstarter campaign, which will fund Issues #3 and 4, launches on Tuesday, October 19th at 7 PM.

“I wanted to explore the idea of what it would be like to be a super hero in the real world,” says Spring. “How do you keep a job when you’re always rushing off to save the world? How would you pay for costumes and such if you aren’t a billionaire like Bruce Wayne?”

The Kickstarter campaign runs through November 18th, 2021.

About the story:

Red, White & Broke is a superhero story that’s not a superhero story. It’s a look at the (literal) cost of being superhero, all told in the wryly comic writing style of #1 Bestselling author and award-winning podcast host Mike Spring.

Along with rising comic art star Dennis Tirona, Mike has crafted a 4-issue series that dives deeper into the logistics of being a superhero than you’ve ever seen before. Who makes the costumes? Who pays for the gadgets? How many jobs can one superhero hold? Are secret identities worth it? All these questions and more will be answered in Red, White & Broke: Confessions of an American Superhero!

About the comic:

RED, WHITE & BROKE: CONFESSIONS OF AN AMERICAN SUPERHERO is a four-issue miniseries published by Outtatime Comics; each issue is a 24-page full-color comic. Issues 1 and 2 have already been published, and this new Kickstarter campaign will fund the final production on Issues #3 and 4, which will wrap up the first story arc..

The book is written by Mike Spring, with pencils and inks by Dennis Tirona, colors by Thyago Brandao, and letters by Jim Whiting. Covers for the issues include artists Russ Braun (Batman, The Boys), Drew Moss (Vampirella/Red Sonja and Copperhead), Livio Ramondelli (Transformers, Star Wars), Ian Chase Nichols (The Tick, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Ed Smith (Tellos, Savage Dragon).
