During our current state of affairs we have seen pretty much every industry affected by COVID-19 and self-quarantining. The comic industry is no different. While some shops have stayed opened but are utilizing CDC social distancing guidelines, unfortunately, some shops have permanently closed their doors. With the news that DC will start shipping a limited title list via alternate means (not Diamond), some independent companies have decided to distribute their books themselves. SCOUT Comics has joined that very fray.
“In light of the pandemic and the ever-changing distribution news, Scout Comics & Entertainment Inc. has decided to release new content directly at www.scoutcomics.com,” CEO Brendan Deneen told Newsarama. “Once our distribution partners get rolling again, we plan on releasing through them as well
“In the meantime, our retail partners will be able to pre-order June releases in May and we now have a program where readers can donate part of their online order to their local comic shop (at no additional cost to our fans),” Deneen continued. “All of our shipments are handled incredibly carefully with the safety of our employees and readers in mind.”
