NEWS WATCH: Superman and Lois Lane Coming to ‘Arrowverse’ Crossover

Superman has made multiple appearances on The CW’s Supergirl show, and despite some earlier skepticism towards his casting, he turned out to be a great representation of the Man of Steel. Now, according to a recent report Entertainment Weekly, he will be making an appearance on the annual DC crossover event from The CW and he won’t be alone! This time he will be joined by his beloved partner and Daily Planet reporter, Lois Lane.

Actor Tyler Hoechlin will be reprising his role as Superman in the three-night crossover event where he is expected to star in each episode. This will allow for some highly anticipated team-ups to happen including Superman and the Flash. While the actress for Lois Lane is still unknown, The CW will undoubtedly make an announcement in the near future.

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.” – Supergirl producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner

This announcement comes not long after their recent casting of actress Ruby Rose as Batwoman who will also debut during the crossover event. With the latest announcement of Superman and Lois Lane’s inclusion, the annual event is shaping up to be a spectacular representation of the DC universe. Newcomer Ruby Rose recently discussed her casting with Jimmy Falon, describing how emotional she was over the role.

“I get to be Batwoman. I feel like the reason I kept getting so emotional was because growing up watching TV I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero. [Tearing up] I said I wouldn’t do that and I’ve always had this saying, well not me, Oscar Wilde, which is ‘be yourself because everyone else is taken’ and so I always lived by that motto and the second motto when I came into the industry was ‘be the person that you needed when you were younger’ and I feel like one motto sort of led me to the other and I just kept crying about it.” – Ruby Rose

The Arrowverse crossover will air on Sunday, Dec. 9 through Tuesday, Dec. 11 on The CW. The Flash‘s fifth season will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 9th at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Supergirl‘s fourth season on Sunday, Oct. 14th at 8 p.m. ET. Arrow‘s seventh season will premiere on Monday, October 15th at 8 p.m. ET, with Legends of Tomorrow debuting Monday, October 22nd, at 9 p.m. ET.
