NEWS WATCH: The “SAGA” is Far From Over as It’s Creators Reveal New Details Ahead of Compendium Launch

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples CR: Image Comics

54 issue’s of “Saga” down 54 issue’s to go

Saga the definition of critically acclaimed comics has reached its halfway point with issue 54. So to make sure the next half is just as amazing as the first creators Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples have taken a quick pause for the cause to make sure that the next half is just as imaginative, poignant, and endearing as the first. If you have never picked up a Saga comic or if you can’t wait for more Saga during its intermission then you should seriously consider picking up Saga: Compendium One, a gargantuan new hardcover that collects the first 54 issue of the story in one tome. This is in stores October 16, 2019, and comes with an all-new cover from Staples, first exclusively revealed by Entertainment Weekly.

Vaughan revealed to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, “I love Fiona’s new cover, and I’m so proud that these first 54 issues and the last seven years of our work together will be available in one gorgeous and affordable package that you can either binge over a single long vacation, or slowly savor until our series returns. And Fiona and I are excited to finally share with everyone that this compendium represents the first half of our story, a planned 108-issue epic!” and “We’re so grateful to our amazing readers for their support and patience, and we hope this compendium will be the perfect holiday gift to help introduce your loved ones to the continuing adventures of Hazel and her star-crossed family.”

Just in case you don’t know, Saga is the story of a Girl named Hazel who is born to parents on either side of an intergalactic war. As Hazel’s winged mother Alana from the technology-proficient Landfall coalition, named after Landfall, the largest world in the galaxy meets her horned father Marko from Wreath, Landfalls one and only moon who’s inhabitants wield magic, fall in love, and reject the futility of war to embrace a romance that would produce Hazel the first person in the cosmos to be born with both horns and wings. This unlikely family travel the universe in a tree rocket ship and deal with ghost baby sitters, ex-lovers, bounty hunters, a disgrace robot prince, and worst of all grandparents in order to stay alive.

Hazel’s family has come a long way since we launched Saga in 2012, and it’s very cool to see that much story all in one volume!” Staples told EW. “We owe our readers massive thanks for getting us to this point, and I couldn’t be more excited for the next leg of the journey.”

Keep an eye out for our full coverage of this epic series when it returns to shelves in the future!
