Very little is known about the upcoming project from veteran Shondaland writer Allan Heinberg. Heinberg will serve as showrunner and executive producer (a title shared with Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb) for a show centered on female MCU characters, although what characters that may include is as yet unknown.
The show will join an abbreviated (and possible final) season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the ABC slate, but will find itself up against a number of other Marvel-related properties (The Gifted on Fox, Runaways on Hulu, Legion on FX, and the plethora of Netflix Marvel series). Previously, ABC ran two seasons of its female-led Agent Carter to solid critical success, albeit lower-than-desired ratings, which eventually led to cancellation.
On a personal note, I’m still waiting to hear back from ABC executives regarding my idea to have a Saturday morning STEM-based show in the vein of Bill Nye the Science Guy starring Letitia Wright, Black Panther‘s Shuri. Stay tuned for more details!
