Dark Horse Entertainment has teamed with Chinese pop-culture company Vanguard Visionary Associates.
As of this week Dark Horse Entertainment, L.L.C. has declared a new partnership with the Hong Kong-based, pop culture and entertainment company, Vanguard Visionary Associates. This news means big thing are in the future for Dark Horse comics, one of the few breakout comic book publishers from the 90’s still going strong today. With this kind of financial backing Dark Horse can not only further develop existing properties but can go on to acquire new properties for the big and little screen.
Initially this venture will give Dark Horse the room to fully finance the development of their already prodigious library of properties that they currently own, as well as acquire outside material for media adaptation both for theater and television. The new relationship with Vanguard Visionary will also undoubtedly lead to Dark Horse gaining an even larger global presence, starting in China.
Dark Horse CEO and founder Mike Richardson said in a statement about the deal, “We are extremely pleased with our new relationship with the people at Vanguard Visionary Associates,” and went on to say, “We’ve had great success over the years, funding our company internally and watching it grow from modest beginnings through the hard work of our amazing staff. This new arrangement will allow us to accelerate our growth and extend our reach worldwide. The deal will offer resources that will take our company to the next level. It will also present new opportunities for our employees as well as the talented content creators we work with.”
Vanguard Visionary Associates chairman Stanley Cheung will, as part of the partnership, join the board of Dark Horse Entertainment.
“A great fit between our companies,” Cheung said about the new arrangement and express his hopes for the future by saying “Our goals are similar, and we feel that by combining our efforts we will be able to enhance Dark Horse’s visibility internationally on the way to making it a leader in the film business, while also making its publishing and product offerings available to new fans around the world.”
