Sony’s upcoming Venom film underwent its first press screening recently, and it has now been confirmed that there are in fact two post-credits scenes. Following a tradition now beloved by fans, the post-credits scenes have become synonymous with Marvel films, and now Venom seeks to deliver on fan’s expectations and then some as it hopes to launch a new slate of films for Sony.
Directed by Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer and starring fan-favorite actor Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Venom is just the first of villain-focused Marvel films planned by Sony. If this film sees the support from fans that films like Spiderman: Homecoming received, there will be even more to follow, including a possible Venom sequel.
While this isn’t a surprising move, given the importance of the film and the potential for a shared universe connection, what is surprising is that the scenes are reportedly back-to-back at the end of the film. This is a departure from normal post-credits-scenes that offer at least a bit of breathing room between scenes.
Although we are still waiting for the first Venom reactions and reviews from fans, the film is already projected to break October box office records. Venom is rated PG-13 and is set to release on October 5th.
Remember to stay until the very end for both post-credits scenes! As always, stay tuned for more information as it releases.
