NEWS WATCH: YOUNG JUSTICE Knows Where They’re At. Do You?

Not only has Young Justice season 3 found a home on DC Universe its also found a homeworld.

DC comics has finally made it clear that Young Justice the animated series is part of the DC universe and is not going anywhere by designated earth 16 as the homeworld for our favorite animated crusaders in training. Brandon Vietti Co-creator of the Young Justice said in an interview with Comicbook.com, “We’re kind of riffing on that, doing our Earth-16 version of that story. Our entire series has been granted by DC the designation of Earth-16 and we really lean into that. There are a lot of reminders of that throughout the season. The number ‘16’ pops up quite a lot.”

The animated shows third season titled Young Justice: Outsiders may also come with some required reading with Batman and the Outsiders a comic book series the show will be paying tribute to this season. Vietti expanded on that in the same interview when he said “It also allows us to kind of riff on the comic books rather than have to stick to them very faithfully. What we try to do is at least really pay respect to the characters or storylines that we’re riffing off of so that hardcore fans really feel that respect but also can be surprised. The hardcore fans that know these stories and know these characters inside and out, we want something new and something fresh, a different take. And then for new people coming onboard hopefully they’ll be able to see our stuff and go backward and see what the source material was and rediscover the DC Universe as we have.”

Debuting in 1983 Batman and the Outsiders came about when Batman and the Justice League were on the outs so he formed a team lead by him and consisted of Black Lightning, Metamorpho, Geo-Force, Katana, Halo, and Looker as the original line-up. A later incarnation of the Outsiders from early 2000s comics was led by Nightwing and Arsenal following the dissolution of the Teen Titans and depicted the team as a proactive group hunting for super criminals.

Season 3 of Young Justice just keeps sounding better and better and I can’t wait till it premieres in early 2019 with a 26 episode run on the new digital platform, DC Universe.
