NEWS WATCH: DC Universe’s Live-Action ‘Doom Patrol’ Finds Its Cyborg

Actor Joivan Wade has been announced to star as Cyborg in the upcoming live-action series ‘Doom Patrol’ from the DC Universe streaming platform.

DC Comics recently announced they have cast Joivan Wade (The First Purge) as Victor Stone aka Cyborg in the live-action Doom Patrol series.

Written by Jeremy Carver, the new Doom Patrol series will debut on the upcoming DC Universe streaming platform, featuring hit-characters such as Robotman, Negative-Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), and Crazy Jane.

Here is the official description provided by DC Comics:

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

The series will follow the live-action Titans series, with Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter & Jeremy Carver as executive producers.

Joivan Wade will be the latest actor to take on the role of Cyborg after his previous film, The Last Purge, recently became the highest grossing of the Purge franchise from Blumhouse.

Though Cyborg is more widely known for his role in famous superhero groups like the Teen Titans and more recently, Justice League, he has quickly grown to become one of the most popular superheroes at DC Comics. Fans of Doom Patrol will certainly be eager to see Cyborg’s role in the new series, and how actor Joivan Wade approaches the role.
