NEWS WATCH: ‘Halo’ Live-Action Series Greenlit by Showtime

It looks like Master Chief is headed to Showtime! After years of a live-action series rumored to be in development, Showtime has given the green light for a Halo TV series.

Showtime has recently announced that they have picked up a live-action scripted series based on the incredibly popular video game, Halo! Kyle Killen (Awake) is set to act as executive producer, writer, and showrunner, while Ruper Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is on track to direct multiple episodes and serve as an executive producer.

During the announcement, Showtime’s CEO gave a statement regarding their new prolific series…

Halo is our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded. In the history of television, there simply has never been enough great science fiction. Kyle Killen’s scripts are thrilling, expansive and provocative; Rupert Wyatt is a wonderful, world-building director; and their vision of Halo will enthrall fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.” – Showtime CEO David Nevins

During the announcement, Showtime confirmed that they have ordered 10 episodes. Although not many other details were given, Killen, Wyatt, Scott Pennington, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank are all set to executive produce. The series will most likely be set in the same universe as the hit-game launched in 2001 featuring the ongoing feud between humanity and a hostile alien force known as the Covenant.

As always, stay tuned for more details as they are announced!
