NEWS WATCH: ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Hits $1 Billion at Box Office

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has crossed over $1 billion at the box office, making it the 35th film in history to reach such a milestone.

The fifth film in the “Jurassic” franchise shows no signs of slowing down as it joins its predecessor in crossing the $1 billion mark at the box office. So far, Fallen Kingdom has earned over 300 million domestically and around 700 million from international territories.

Set four years after the events of Jurassic World, the sequel follows Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they attempt to rescue the remaining dinosaurs on the island of Isla Nublar before a volcanic eruption threatens their very existence once again.

The film is helmed by J.A. Bayona known for his 2007 horror film ‘The Orphanage’ and written by ‘Jurassic World’ director Colin Trevorrow along with Derek Connolly.

This makes Universal’s seventh total billion-dollar grossing film, and shows that ‘Jurassic’ still has plenty of life left for the dinosaur-obsessed fans of the franchise!
