NEWS WATCH: ‘Saga’ from Image Comics Going on Year-Long Hiatus

One of Image Comics’ most popular ongoing series, Saga, is set to go on a one-year hiatus following issue #54.

In what is being described as an extended “intermission”, the popular ongoing series ‘Saga’ from Image Comics will be taking a year-long break following issue #54.  Series writer/co-creator Brian K. Vaughan has provided the following statement explaining the reasoning behind his and fan-favorite artist Fiona Staples’ decision.

“After fifty-four issues and over 1,200 consecutive pages of sequential storytelling together, Fiona and I have decided to take an extended break before we eventually reunite with Saga #55. And unlike our usual three months of ‘Vacationanza’ between arcs, we plan to pause publication of this series for at least the next year.

“This obviously wasn’t a decision we took lightly, but Fiona and I feel a responsibility to keep making the very best comic we can, and we both agreed that he only way to eventually finish the epic saga we set out to tell was with this one significant… let’s call it… Intermission!” – Brian K. Vaughan

The first issue of Saga was published on March 14th, 2012 and quickly sold out, forcing the issue into reprints. Now, over six years later, the ongoing series remains one of Image Comic’s most anticipated releases by fans.

Be sure to check out the final issue, Saga #54 (hitting shelves on July 25th), before the series goes on its “intermission” for the next twelve months! Check back for more information on the series from Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples as it releases. We will be watching!
