NEWS WATCH: Star Trek Discovery Season 2

Star Trek Discovery Season Two brings us Captain Pike, Number One and teases at Mr.Spock.

Star Trek The Original Series (also referred to as TOS), was lead by Captain James T Kirk played by William Shatner. Before Captian Kirk sat in the Captain’s chair, Captian Christopher Pike played by Jeffrey Hunter commanded the U.S.S Enterprise.

Captain Pike is back after 53 years of his debut, now being played by Anson Mount Who also played Black Bolt in Marvels Inhuman live-action tv series. Mout recently announced on his twitter “ Cat’s out of the bag. Yep, I have officially joined STARFLEET, a dream I’ve had since around the age of 8 when I first discovered TOS syndicated on my local access channel in middle TN. And couldn’t be more excited to be playing PIKE!”

In the original series, Leonard Nimoy played Mr. Spock who served as science officer and Number One (Number One references to second in command) to Captain Kirk. In the original pilot, it was Majel Barrett who served as Captain Pikes Number One. Majel later returned to TOS as Nurse Christine Chaple.

Rebecca Romijn will play Captain Pikes Number one as she announced on her twitter “Just call me “Number One!” Honored to play such an iconic character in #StarTrek Canon originally played by the First Lady of Star Trek, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry! #StarTrekDiscovery”

After Romijn made her announcement Mount posted “I have the best Number 1 in the whole of Starfleet.”

 

 

Season Two will be on CBS All Access early 2019. CBS All Access is a subscription-based streaming service.
