NEWS WATCH: Rob Liefeld and Studio 8 present “Prophet” the movie.

Will Rob Liefeld’s “Prophet” be newly launched Studio 8 claim to comic movie fame?

The neophyte company Studio 8 which is producing the films Alpha and White Boy Rick has acquired the rights to Prophet, a property from Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, and are planning to develop a movie franchise around it.

John Prophet, a poor and homeless man living in the World War II era, volunteered to participate in the medical experiments of Dr. Horatio Wells, a time-traveling scientist from the future who used DNA-enhancing methods to transform Prophet into a supersoldier. Studio 8 went on to pitch the film as “ as the anti-Captain America, a fish out of water ruthless berserker that must find his humanity.”

“We’re taking the best of Prophet to create the best cinematic version of Prophet that we can,” said Liefeld in a recent interview with Heat Vision website and went on to say “He’s very pure in his motives to help out his family and ends up becoming something completely different.” Liefeld also pointed out that the film will not be a direct adaptation of the comic and that it would not showcase any known plot-lines of Prophet much like the Deadpool franchise. Liefeld’s excitement for Studio 8’s film was apparent when he said in his interview with Heat Vision “They did their homework, and not only did they do homework, they are true fans.”

Rob Liefeld, Adrian Askarieh and Brooklyn Weaver are slated to produce the film with involvement from John Hyde and Terissa Kelton. John Graham and Guy Danella will oversee the film for Studio 8.
