Remastered Single Issues of Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood Return to Comic Shops This April

Image Comics announces that Youngblood is returning to comic shelves with new remastered, deluxe editions. Starting in April, each month, a re-scripted, re-colored, and re-lettered edition will be released, with the remastering process overseen by original creator Rob Liefeld.

In the press release, Liefeld spoke about the updated editions, stating:

“This is the ultimate way to experience Youngblood. These characters mean so much to me and to revisit them like this is the absolute best way to read the comic that literally started the revolution and transformed the industry!”

Originally published in 1992 (after a few scattered appearances in other titles), Youngblood followed a team of young superheroes in a contemporary world, detailing their exploits as both superpowered individuals under the purview of the government and as celebrity figures. Though the series reported strong sales numbers, the series struggled to maintain a consistent release schedule. Alan Moore would later go on to write a new version of the title with an updated team, the series only lasting for three issues.

The title would have multiple attempts at new starts over the next few years, most of which never saw official release. For the franchise’s 25th anniversary in 2017, a 11 issue miniseries (originally slated for 12) was released, written by Chad Bowers with art by Jim Towe. It was also previously announced that Liefeld is working on a new iteration of the Youngblood title for Image, which is expected to launch this year.

Youngblood Deluxe #1 will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms on Wednesday, April 16.
