Netflix summons a darker more macab Sabrina in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for pre-Halloween debut.
Debuting this October 26, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will have a 10 episode run only on Netflix. The Riverdale off-shoot will be taking the place of Stranger Things usual Halloween season spot, seeing that Stranger Things won’t be back till 2019 with its third season.
The new show is based on the comic series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina published by Archie Horror an imprint of Archie Comics. The comic first came out back in 2014 from writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Robert Hack who put a new spin on the classic character Sabrina the Teenage Witch in a dark coming-of-age story set in the 1960’s that keeps it arcana roots in mind.
Originally ordered in December by Netflix after the CW pass on the series. The streaming network committed to two seasons of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina that takes inspiration from such works as Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist. The series was meant to serve as a companion series to the CW’s Riverdale show but has since been confirmed that both will exist in their own worlds.
The new Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardwell/Madam Satan, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman, Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, and Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood.
