BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #2
The Bat-themed anthology continues as Batman, Stormwatch and Superman’s stories unfold across in and out of continuity. Batman is still hunting down the Joker as the clown prince of crime murders through Gotham, waiting to meet Batman for the first time. Meanwhile, Stormwatch continues to establish itself in the modern DC landscape, this time in a hunt for an ancient Atlantean weapon in the hands of aqua-terrorists.
Superman is still unraveling the pulp adventure that ties to his childhood days in Smallville, led by a thought to be a toy decoder ring. Joining this anthology is a new black and white story unrelated to Dan Mora’s anime adventure from the last issue, instead focusing on the stories behind Batman’s scars.

HARLEY QUINN #31
Harley Quinn is many things: criminal, teacher, multiversal traveler and even lover. All of these facets of her life collide as she is pulled across time and space, treated as a threat to the fabric of reality. Characters somehow less over the top than her, like Captain Carrot, are trying to stop her, and new genres and settings constantly give the series new places to play. These large scale plots clash violently with her court appointed community service, teaching at the local community college, and her beef with Two-Face.

THE RIDDLER: YEAR ONE #5
The exploration of Edward Nashton, aka the Riddler of The Batman, inches closer to the start of the film as Edward’s criminal tendencies simmer to the surface. Breaking away from the typical structure of the story, this issue offers a peek into the villain’s mind by showcasing The Riddler’s journal, walking readers through his machinations on the page. Plans and rantings weave together to form the basis of the villain’s plot, always one step ahead of the Batman.

The Riddle: Year One #5
The penultimate issue of this hit miniseries features an unusual break in format, as we will see Edward Nashton constructing his master plan for taking down the corrupt officials and criminals of Gotham City in the pages of his journal. As his mind spirals deeper and deeper, so too does his writing become more unhinged. How can he continue to labor at his accounting job by day while also becoming more enraged by what he’s uncovered?
As shown in The Batman movie, Edward fills thousands of pages with his rantings. Here we get a glimpse into something that was never meant to be seen and a mind equally brilliant and unhinged. By the end, a turning point will be reached and Gotham’s greatest menace will come one step closer to being unleashed.
Actor Paul Dano (The Batman) and artist Stevan Subic continue the origin of the Riddler, leading up to his appearance in Matt Reeves’s epic film.
