Marvel announces the next wave the Silver Surfer will ride this September, which picks up plotlines from a previous miniseries for the cosmic hero. Silver Surfer Rebirth: Legacy features writer Ron Marz and artist Ron Lim following up on Silver Surfer Rebirth’s introduction of Captain Mar-Vell’s son, Legacy. The five issue miniseries will see Surfer mentoring Legacy as they battle cosmic figures like Thanos, the Infinity Watch, and Galactus.
“I can’t say no to Silver Surfer, and I can’t say no to Ron Lim, so here we go again,” Marz said. “Playing in Marvel’s cosmic playground with Ron was how my career started, and I think I speak for both of us when I say this is right where we want to be. It just fits. This new series gives us a chance to build on the stories we’ve been telling, and tie them together into a bigger arc with Surfer at the center. We’re having a blast, so hopefully readers will too.”
The series will also see the duo traveling across time while filling in the gaps of the original Silver Surfer run from the creative team. This continues Marvel’s trend of threading their publishing line with titles flashing back to former eras, and filling in storylines from seminal runs.
