Skybound unveiled an upcoming line of one-shots in honor of the classic Silent Interlude story from Larry Hama’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21. Alongside the five one-shots from creators like Phil Hester, DANI & Dan Watters, Leonardo Romero, Andrew Krahnke, and Wes Craig, Skybound is also releasing the Walter Hama written/illustrated Silent Interlude story with a new letter also written by Hama. That issue saw the introduction of Storm Shadow and allowed Hama’s art to shine through a story with no dialogue. The reprinting kicks off the month of silent stories this April.
In the press release, Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound spoke about the importance of the Hama story, stating:
“The importance of the Silent Interlude cannot be overstated. And in celebration of this historic issue, Skybound has invited five of the industry’s best storytellers to write and draw their own silent issue, each taking on a different G.I. JOE character. And while this event is inspired by Larry Hama and Steve Leialoha’s original masterpiece, each issue is singular in its approach and showcases the unique strengths of these incredible artists.”
