Rampage, Lucifer, and now Skyward Brad Peyton and Joe Henderson are building their geek cred with every move they make.
Image comics “Skyward” movie rights have been bought by Sony and is slated to be directed by Brad Peyton. Joe Henderson creator of “Skyward” and showrunner of “Lucifer” will be the executive producer with Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson producing.
In an interview with Variety, Peyton said “Jeff and I are focused on making event films — regardless of budget or scope,” Peyton said. “‘Skyward’ is a big one. We’re very excited to deliver on what an anti-gravity movie should deliver on and be working with Joe Henderson on this.”
“Skyward” written by Joe Henderson and illustrated by Lee Garbett tells the story of when gravity on earth suddenly became a fraction of what it is now. Humanity has adapted to its new low-gravity reality twenty years later. Born just after G-day Willa Fowler lives a pretty awesome life. She can fly through the air and also die if she jumps too high. So if she just doesn’t jump too high or maybe not stumble into a dangerous plan to bring gravity back that could get everyone killed she’d be living on cloud nine.
Brad Peyton has previously directed “Rampage” and “San Andreas,” starring Dwayne Johnson and developing a sequel for the latter where Joe Henderson is the showrunner for the, newly Netflix’s acquired, “Lucifer.” Looks like Image is ready to take its place at the movies.
