SNEAK PEEK: Marvel Comics celebrates LGBTQ+ Inclusivity with Pride Voices #1

Marvel Comics is giving a sneak peek to their first ever Queer focused comic hitting shelves on June 23rd, just in time to celebrate Pride Month. This issue boasts some of the biggest LGBTQ+ creators in the business, like Leah Williams, Keiron Gillen, Olivier Coipel, Steve Orlando, Vita Ayala, Kris Anka, Javier Garron, and many more, telling stories about Marvel’s ever growing cast of Queer characters. This issue also marks the return of Jessie Drake, newest resident of Krakoa, and to the comics world!

Marvel’s Voices: Pride 1 will also explore the history of the LGBTQ+ movement of inclusivity in storytelling, as well as an interview with former associate editor, Chris Cooper.

Here is a look at some of these brand new stories, along with commentary from the creators regarding their stories.

Keiron Gillen and Jen Hickman take Speed and Prodigy on a day in the life as these two young lovers share a moment and a couple slices of New York style pizza!

Vita Ayala, Joanna Estep, and Brittany Williams share a touching story focusing on Karma and her relationships with her friends on Krakoa.

Anthony Oliveira and Javier Garro? tell a story that’s deeply personal detailing the pain and hurt that closeted LGBTQ+ youth have to deal with.

Steve Orlando and Claudia Aguirre tell a previously untold tale featuring Daken and new superstar Somnus, and a torrid one amazing night the two shared years ago.

Tini Howard and Samantha Dodge tell us a love story that spans decades, with OG lesbian icons Mystique and Destiny.

Leah Williams and Jan Basaldua have the pleasure of reintroducing LGBTQ+ legend Jessie Drake and the Black Cat.

Mariko Tamaki and Kris Anka bring you a story featuring star crossed Runaways Nico Minoru and Carolina Dean.

Terry Blas and Paulina Ganucheau give us a story about Anole, Graymalkin, and the impact of having gay friends can have when dealing with our appearance.

While JJ Kirby tells us of the couple of Northstar and Kyle, who are not only an interracial couple, but Northstar is a mutant, while Kyle is a regular human, and one of the few who are cohabiting on the mutant nation of Krakoa.

Lilah Sturges and Derek Charm tell a story filled with some levity featuring Elektra, and newly introduced trans character, Charlene McGowan, to show a trans character in light hearted to offset the often sad and tragic trans people’s presence when represented in the media.

She-Hulk and Titania star in a story by Chrystal Taylor and Jethro Morales where the characters try to find and learn to like themselves for who they are.

Closing out this extravaganza is a bonus story about Wiccan and Hulkling by Young Avengers creators Allan Heinberg, and Jim Cheung.
