Marvel saved some of the best announcements for last this San Diego Comic-Con, with the Women of Marvel panel announcing a host of new stories and books. Two traditionally published series received updates, while six Infinity comics were given the spotlight during the presentation. Along with comics, the panel also announced a new season of the Women of Marvel podcast, which starts September 6.
The biggest announcement is the next entry in the ongoing Spider-Gwen story, Spider-Gwen: On Tour, from writer Melissa Flores and artist Enid Balám. The book, which launches this December, follows as Gwen and the Mary Janes go on tour as the opening act to one of Earth-65’s biggest musical acts. The book will balance band drama and superheroics as Ghost-Spider has to protect the headliner from a mysterious assassin. On Tour also promises to introduce more remixed characters from the alternate universe, continuing the Spider-Gwen tradition.
This was joined by the reveal of more information about Jody Houser and Salvador Larroca’s Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. On the Infinity comics side, the various anthology series will put the women of Marvel in the spotlight, but in and outside of the stories. In Love Unlimited, Rogue & Gambit star in a heist story from writer Preeti Chhibber, artist Carola Borelli, and colorist Carlos Lopez. Marvel’s Voices spotlights Echo right before her Disney+ show launches in a story from writer Melissa Flores, artist Kyle Charles, and Carlos Lopez. More of these titles will also see changes throughout the end of August going into the later part of the year.
