In the wake of DC Comics’ reveal of the Brian Michael Bendis Superman TV advertisement, Marvel follows suit with a full-length Spider-Man trailer that will also be aired as a TV spot.
Marvel announced today the release of the above Launch Release trailer, featuring creator and editorial commentary on the recently-released Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2018), as well as the intent to release a truncated version as a television spot.
Worth noting, DC Comics’ recently also premiered a similar spot for its Superman #1 (2018), which was released on the same day as Amazing Spider-Man #1. In an era in which comics media is the king of the heap in terms of profitability, both companies seem to be making revolutionary moves in an attempt to keep the structural core of the industry, actual physical issues of comics, relevant and profitable. Time will tell if either company will be successful.
