BREAKING NEWS: Four New Star Trek Series Being Developed Following Alex Kurtzman’s $25M Studio Expansion Deal

After Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg’s firing from the Star Trek: Discovery series, Alex Kurtzman became the sole showrunner. Now after a $25 million dollar pact that extends into 2023, he is set to oversee a massive expansion of the franchise that already includes four new series.

Fans of Star Trek: Discovery has something to celebrate after a troublesome time with the former showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg. Alex Kurtzman, the newly appointed showrunner and recipient of an estimated $5 million per year contract until 2023, is reportedly developing multiple new series and even stirring rumors of Patrick Stewart returning to his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Early reports are hinting at a series set at Starfleet Academy, coming from Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, CW’s Dynasty, Marvel’s Runaways). This might indicate a show geared more towards younger audiences as an entry point.

The second show is a limited series centered around the Wrath of Khan story. It is reported that Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) is already involved.

There are even fewer details regarding the other two shows, but one could possibly be an animated series!

Whether all of these turn out to be exactly true will remain to be seen, but one thing is certain, the future of Star Trek is promising!

As always we will be watching…
