The Bloodlust Comes to a Boiling Point in Marvel’s Upcoming Event BLOOD HUNT

Marvel has materialized new details about its next event, Blood Hunt, which launches this May. The main series features writing from Jed MacKay with art by Pepe Larraz, and coloring by Marte Gracia, and picks up on elements introduced during MacKay and Federico Sabbatini’s current Moon Knight run. Alongside the main story, tie-ins and limited series are confirmed, plunging the Marvel Universe into darkness as a horde of vampires descends upon the world outside your windows.

MacKay discussed his approach to the series to Marvel.com, stating:

“I think vampires are a very fun part of the Marvel Universe. You can enjoy them on a surface level as adding a little spookiness to a book, or you can get as deep as you like into the long-running Marvel history of vampires, which is as elaborate as any other part of it (and the fact that Dracula is there is a source of endless delight)! BLOOD HUNT is just the latest chapter in the long-running vampire mythos of Marvel vampires—and they’re stepping out of the darkness in a big way.”

The preview pages put the spotlight on Scarlet Witch and the Avengers’ response to the surprise attack of darkness. This makes sense both in and out of story as MacKay is currently writing the team book, and has been building to this event for the last few years. Books like Jason Aaron, David Marquez, and Andrea Sorrentino‘s Avengers, MacKay and Marcelo Ferreira‘s Strange, and the previously discussed Moon Knight are just a few titles that have seeded the upheavals of the vampires.

Alongside Larraz and Gracia’s interior pages, Marvel has also revealed a first look at Larraz’s cover for issue one.
