Marvel’s Blood Hunt, the house of ideas’s next blockbuster event, continues to grow with the reveal of two more tie-in miniseries. Teams are forming in reaction to the threat of the vampires’ coordinated attack, with the Midnight Sons and Strange Academy kids taking the respective forefronts. Writer Bryan Hill and artist Germán Peralta bring together multiple Ghost Riders, Blade, and a few supernatural hunters for an original team reunion in Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt.
Bryan Hill discussed making the jump from Blade to the Midnight Sons in the press release, stating:
“FINALLY the world realizes I’m a ‘horror guy’ and I’m grateful. Working with Blade has been a blast, and what I’m doing with MIDNIGHT SONS is maybe even more ferocious than that. This event is really exciting, the hype is real, and what I have planned for this will hopefully satisfy fans of action…and terror.”
In Strange Academy: Blood Hunt, the students of the magical school will try to stop the endless darkness brought upon Earth by turning to the Darkhold. The three issue miniseries, written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Luigi Zagaria, also pits the students against Agatha Harkness, picking up on plot points from last year’s Contest of Chaos storyline.
In the press release from Marvel, Luigi Zagaria spoke about continuing the adventures of the Strange Academy kids, stating:
“I’m a big fan of Strange Academy. It attracted me immediately from the first issue and I loved the work done by Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos. I already walked through the gates of the academy last year in Midnight Suns, and the chance to create pages of something so new thrills me. Drawing the kids’ various forms of magic, each full of color, and contrasting them with the dark tones of the story has been inspiring, and knowing that this will be part of a crossover involving the entire Marvel Universe excites me.”
