The Marvel Tales as well as facsimile initiative has gone above and beyond this year, returning classic stories to comic shops at a beyond reasonable price. Starting next week, and in celebration of its 50th anniversary, The Night Gwen Stacy Died will return to comic shops with a dual facsimile release of The Amazing Spider-Man #121 & #122. These editions will include everything from the original 1973 printing, including the original ad layouts.
Many claim that the beginning to the bronze age of comics started here with this story arc, and for good reason. This monumental tale, written by Gerry Conway and illustrated by Jazzy John Romita marked a major turning point for Peter Parker after almost a decade of publication history. The death of Gwen was a harrowing experience for the web-slinger, one that took years of darker and more mature stories to work through.
#121 will release on June 14th, and issue #122 will drop two weeks later on June 28th.
