The Origin of Blood Hunt, Gang War, and More Headline July’s MARVEL’s MUST HAVE Issue

Marvel revealed the next installments of its Marvel Must-Haves line, a set of free modern reprints that get sent to comic stores. This July, Marvel is including three issues in the Must-Have collection, all linking to recent Marvel events. Amazing Spider-Man #39, which features scripting by Zeb Wells with art by John Romita Jr., kicks off Gang War, the street-level event that ran its course earlier this year. Also reprinted is Avengers #7, written by Jed MacKay and illustrated by C.F. Villa, which pitted the heroes against the Twilight Court, antagonists introduced in last year’s Timeless one-shot. Finally, Jed MacKay gets another reprint in the issue with Moon Knight #1, illustrated by Alessandro Cappuccio. The series served as a foundation for the currently running Blood Hunt event

The cover to the reprint and full descriptions of the issue can be seen below.

Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #39

The start of Gang War, the crossover event spinning out of Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s Amazing Spider-Man run. Gang War erupts as the crime bosses of New York City fight to be the new Kingpin of crime. With super-crime running rampant, an overwhelmed Spider-Man can’t solve just one problem at a time. So Spidey builds a team to take down ALL the super-criminals of NYC in 48 hours. Good luck, Spidey.

Avengers (2023) #7

The start of the second arc of Jed MacKay and C.F. Villa’s Avengers run. The Avengers defend the world – but they are beginning not to recognize the world as their own. What has happened to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and…what has happened to the Vision? This mind-bending arc sees the Avengers in their first fight with their new rival enemies, the Twilight Court.

Moon Knight (2021) #1

The debut issue of one of comic books’ hottest modern runs: Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio’s Moon Knight, the very series that laid the groundwork for the current Marvel Comics crossover event, Blood Hunt!

With his people petitioning for protection from the weird and horrible, this new status quo sees the mysterious Mr. Knight opening the now iconic Midnight Mission. Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his people. Marc Spector, in whichever guise he dons, is back on the streets, a renegade priest of an unworthy god. But while Khonshu languishes in a prison that Moon Knight put him in, Moon Knight must still observe his duty: protecting those who travel at night. Let it be known – Moon Knight will keep the faith.
