The Power Rangers Comic Universe Comes to a Close This July

BOOM! Studios revealed that its celebrated run of Mighty Morphin Power Ranger is coming to an end with an oversized one-shot, Darkest Hour. Written by current Power Rangers scribe Melissa Flores with art by Simona Di Gianfelice and coloring by Raúl Angulo, the one-shot brings the last two years of storytelling to a close this July. It follows immediately after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #122, the last issue of the main series which concludes eight years of Rangers storytelling.

In the press release, Flores spoke about bringing the series to a conclusion, stating:

“After nearly two years, the Darkest Hour comes to a close. This event has been one of the biggest tasks of my career, but I’ve enjoyed every single, heart-wrenching minute. Although I put our poor Rangers through the ringer, I hope the ending is as satisfying for the reader as it was for me to write it!”

In addition to the interior art by Di Gianfelice and Angulo, the issue features a main cover from Taurin Clarke and variants by  Björn Barends, Goñi Montes, and more. Those covers can be seen below.

Di Gianfelice spoke about working with Flores on the finale, stating:

“I’m really excited to tell this incredible adventure together with Melissa. So far she has kept us in suspense and now she’s ready to surprise us again! Get ready to dive into this final chapter of Darkest Hour! GO GO!”

Mighty Morphin Power Ranger: Darkest Hour #1 will be available in comic shops and on digital platforms on July 31, 2024. The week before, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #122 releases in comic shops and on digital platforms July 24, 2024.
