Marvel announces that new mysteries surrounding the Sentry emerge this winter, as writer Jason Loo (X-Men Unlimited) and artist Luigi Zagaria (Midnight Suns) usher in a new status quo for the mantle. After the character’s death in King in Black, Marvel teases that the powers of a million exploding planets will seek out a new host. The search for this new wielder becomes the center of the upcoming The Sentry #1, which is set to release in December 2023.
Writer Jason Loo discussed working on this new point of Sentry’s publishing history:
“This new chapter of the Sentry has an intriguing concept: on top of all the responsibilities and struggles a single person has to deal with in their everyday life, can one also handle the power of a MILLION EXPLODING SUNS? It’s a fun opportunity for me to create new characters that readers can see themselves in and bestow them these earth-shaking powers.”
It seems that both Misty Knight and Jessica Jones will play a role in unraveling the mystery of who the new Sentry is. Along with the first details about the limited series, Marvel has also shared the cover to the first issue, illustrated by Ben Harvey.
