The Superior Spider-Man Swings Into New One-Shot for 10th Anniversary This Fall!

With San Diego Comic-Con underway, more information about Dan Slott’s return to the critically acclaimed Superior Spider-Man story has been revealed by Marvel. In a new one-shot, Superior Spider-Man Returns #1, Slott will be joined by Superior Spidey co-creator Ryan Stegman along with artists Mark Bagley, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Humberto Ramos to revisit the era with an oversized untold story that promises to be superior to the original run.

The original Superior Spider-Man saw a dying Doc Ock take over Peter Parker’s body and vowed to become a better Spider-Man. This Spider-Man was more ruthless, cocky, and burned many of the bridges Peter had spent the last decade of comics building up. Doc Ock would come out the other side understanding a bit more about great power and responsibility, while Peter returned with a new company and yet another brand new day.

In the press release, writer Dan Slott discussed returning to the Superior status quo:

“The challenge Marvel gave me was: for the 10th anniversary, how can we revisit Superior, without repeating ourselves, and while telling a story that impacts Spider-Man’s world today? SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN RETURNS is going to take an untold Superior tale, and drag it kicking, screaming, and violently exploding into the present. It’s going to give you everything you liked about Superior but in new surprising ways. No time travel. No clones. And no way we’re telling you how. Read the book!”

Marvel has shared a first look at the main cover for the one-shot, drawn by Ryan Stegman, which can be seen below:
