Thor Goes Corporate in New One-Shot, ROXXON PRESENTS: THOR

Marvel Comics revealed its new owner, Roxxon Energy Corporation, yesterday when they announced a new addition to the current Thor line. Joining writer Al Ewing and artist Ibraim Roberson’s Immortal Thor is a new one-shot, Roxxon Presents: Thor from Ewing and artist Greg Land. The April releasing single issue is set to introduce Roxxin’ Thor, a corporate god ready to protect the Earth and profits at all costs.

The move comes after Roxxon CEO/terror-inducing minotaur Dario Agger set his sights on defeating Thor, teaming up with classic Thor antagonist Amora the Enchantress to undermine the comic legacy of the thunder god. Agger purchased the rights to the hero within the confines of Earth-616, and plans to use them immediately to destroy any and all credibility and public images. That story unfolds in the pages of Immortal Thor while in Roxxon Presents, Chad Hammer assumes the mantle of Thor to battle against “subversive radical” environmentalists that stand in opposition to the energy company.

Roxxon and Marvel have also shared a pull quote from their PR team and writer Al Ewing, which can be seen in full glory below:

Here’s what Ewing was forced to say about this shocking development: “Roxxon’s hostile takeover of Marvel Comics is the worst thing to happen to the industry in decades just what comic books needed! I was horrified jazzed beyond words when I saw how the so-called Roxxon Entertainment Standards Committee had gutted improved my work, methodically stripping away every iota of poetry, symbolism and metaphor junk no one cares about. The result is a comic that can best be described as an act of unforgivable violence against the medium I love a rollicking good time for the whole family! May God forgive Roxxon, for I never shall! Make Mine Roxxon!”
