Marvel unveils the first trailer for the upcoming Ultimate Black Panther from writer Bryan Hill and artist Stefano Caselli. After a teaser in the form of new Peach Momoko designs, more information has begun to trickle out about the series. When issue one launches this February, it promises to deliver a new status quo for the protector of Wakanda in a world missing its superheroes. The Panther will battle this universe’s Moon Knight as the avatar of Khonshu seeks control of Africa. Also teased is the inclusion of Ultimate Killmonger, Storm, Okoye, and Shuri.
In the press release, Hill discussed the influences for the series, stating:
“My influences range from the history of BLACK PANTHER comics to Ryan Coogler’s incredible work with the recent films, to Frank Herbert’s worldbuilding capacity of Dune. This is something people won’t expect, in the best of ways, and full credit to Marvel and editors Wil Moss and Michelle Marchese for bringing this creative possibility to me.”
