Marvel reveals a new series of lightning themed variant covers for the upcoming dystopian future series, Avengers Twilight. Written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Daniel Acuña, the series will follow Captain America trying to restore a future twisted by a new generation of Avengers. Tying in with the series, the variant cover series evokes the dark future of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns, with Miller providing the iconic covers seen below.
Miller returns to illustrate the first Avengers: Twilight cover, spotlighting Captain America. Each subsequent issue features another artist homaging the seminal cover, including Phil Noto, Sara Pichelli, Carmen Carnero, Ben Su, and Declan Shalvey. Miller and Su’s covers can be seen below:
