In the wake of this week’s conclusion to Ultimate Invasion, Marvel has shared a first look at Ultimate Universe #1, set for release this November. The one-shot from Jonathan Hickman, Stefano Caselli, and colorist David Curiel, picks up on the plotlines from the four issue miniseries and delves deeper into the new version of the Ultimate Universe (now labeled 6160). The announcement also follows day after Marvel revealed Hickman and superstar artist Marco Checchetto will headline a new version of Ultimate Spider-Man, with more details forthcoming at New York Comic Con.
In the press release, Hickman described the appeal of working with the Ultimate Universe:
“What made the Ultimate Universe originally really interesting was that it was a reflection of the world outside your window, in the moment that you were living in. What does it look like in the world we’re living in now? It’s kind of shocking how much the world has changed in that period of time. The idea of what it would be like to see the genesis of Super Heroes in a brand new world is a really fascinating exercise.”
Alongside the unlettered interiors by Caselli, Marvel has also revealed Bryan Hitch’s cover for the issue, which features the trade dressing for the new line. Those can be seen below:
