Bitten: Wolf Woman

Bitten is a Canadian produced television series based on the Women of the Otherworld novels by author Kelley Armstrong.  The name is taken from the first book about Elena Michaels the only female to be bitten by a werewolf and survive.  The series ran for three seasons from 2014 to 2016 and starred Laura Vandervoort as Elena.  The series loosely follows the source material but embellishes and changes some aspects.  The second season does introduce Paige Winterbourne, a witch and a main character in many of the other Women of the Otherworld novels.

The series revolves around Elena and her coming to terms that she is the only known female werewolf. At first, she tries to deny this part of herself and attempts to live a normal life, with a human boyfriend, Philip (Paul Greene) who does not know what she really is, but she quickly gets pulled back into her old pack including her first love and the man that turned her into a werewolf, Clay (Greyston Holt).  The pack is led by Jeremy (Greg Bryk) who Elena does feel some allegiance to. By the second season, Philip is out of the picture and Elena has reconciled with Clay and the rest of the series follows Elena as she tries everything to keep her and her pack alive, eventually becoming the Alpha.

I was a big fan of the first two books and very much anticipated the series when it was announced.  I was not disappointed. I thought Laura did a great job as Elena, capturing both the strength a werewolf masters and feminine aspects of her human side. Greg Bryk plays Jeremy with the logic and wisdom that a good pack leader must have. Greyston Holt was a good choice for Clayton “Clay” Danvers, as the head strong love interest who spends much of his time shirtless.  Greyston is very nice to look at, and acts the part well in fact most of the cast is great eye candy.    The production value was good and the storylines for each season were intriguing, even if they did stray from the source material quite a bit.  The show is not only exciting, but takes you on a great emotional rollercoaster ride.  You care about Elena and the rest of the pack and most of the characters are easy to connect to and relatable.
