TELEVISION EPISODE REVIEW: Luke Cage S2 Ep12 ‘Can’t Front on Me’

With the pieces all in place, who will arise victorious in this war? The beginning of the end is here!

Luke Cage – “Can’t Front on Me”, Season 2, Episode 12
Airdate: June 22nd, 2018
Director: Everardo Gout
Writer: Aida Mashaka Croal
Based on Marvel Comics Characters by: Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, and John Romita Sr.

What You’ll Find Out:

Until the finally fifteen minutes, this episode was a game of chess, moving pieces all around the board. Mariah works on solidifying her status as Queen by continuing to reach out to other outfits as she did with the Chinese gang in the last episode. Shades sits at Harlem PD and conjures forth every act of violence perpetrated in the name of the Stokes family in the past two seasons. Luke makes one last attempt to talk Mariah down from war. Tilda equips Bushmaster with the strength and knowledge to take the fight directly to Mariah.

With all the players in place at Paradise, the match is struck and hell breaks loose. In all of the melee, Bushmaster escapes, but Shades manages to get his hands on the gun that will take Mariah down, and she is taken into custody.

What Just Happened?

With only one episode left, it remains to be seen where the focus will be. With Mariah in custody, will Bushmaster attack the precinct? Will Mariah walk? There are so many variables that the finale can almost do nothing but surprise at this point.

The shift of music towards hip hop continues, as this episode features another Wu-Tang Clan track, Sway plugging a show at Paradise, and the incomparable, the legendary, the one and only KRS-ONE performing at Paradise. Hot fire.

Rating: 9/10
Final Thought:
Will it be war or peace in the finale?
