Will Clarke and Bellamy find a way to prevent war over Shadow Valley or will the last vestiges of human life clash and dwindle the number of survivors even more?
The 100 – “How We Get to Peace”, Season 5, Episode 08

What You Should Know:
Octavia and Madi, her new Second, are preparing to wage war on PriKrew and claim the valley for their own, but behind her back is Clarke trying to find a way to broker peace. The only way, however, is to take Octavia off the board.
What You’ll Find Out:
Efforts to find and maintain peace vary across our myriad of major characters in this week’s episode. As Harper and Monty look for (and find) ways to keep the hydro-farm viable for the foreseeable future to avoid any conflict, Octavio and her minions prepare for war. The weaponized worms, intended to weaken PriKrew before any battles take place are turned against Octavia’s forces by Clarke, Bellamy, and Indra, although the nuance of the plan was unknown, immediately outing their betrayal to Bloodreina.
Back in the valley, Abby’s drive to find a steady flow of drugs leads her to torture Raven into helping her cure the poisoned miners through modified technology. Peace through usefulness. Dyoza and Kane, meanwhile, prepare for the potential influx of Wonkru, presuming Clark will be successful in eliminating Octavia.
With all plans backfiring in some way, shape, or form, the fate of the survivors of the human race falls squarely onto Bellamy’s shoulders. Running out of options to avoid bloodshed, including the potential death of his sister, Bellamy opts to go neither above or below, but through, by putting Octavia into a coma using Monty’s fresh and unrefined algae.
What Just Happened?
With Octavia out of commission for potentially a month, the war is stalled for the time being. The question remains as to whether Clark and company can broker a lasting peace in that time. Also, what will the long-term solution to Bloodreina be? With only one piece of viable land, the ever-present fight for survival has turned into a Machiavellian game of politics. If all actions have consequences, the consequences of the acts in this episode will certainly shape the world of The 100 for quite some time.
Rating: 8/10
Final Thought: Murphy and Emori broke up again and Raven told Echo to kill Shaw. Neither action was crucial to the story, but those are certainly among the things that many fans will be discussing, so I might as well at least make note.
