Episode 103

As WandaVision becomes the longest running sitcom in history, it enters it’s third decade–the groovy 70s, in glorious color! It’s also vibing a Brady Bunch theme this time as Wanda’s pregnancy takes the spotlight. Vision wants to name the baby “Billy” but Wanda is insisting on “Thomas/Tommy”. Viewers familiar with the comics know that in the comics the couple actually had twins and they were named, yes, Billy and Tommy. When they got older Billy became the super hero known as Asgardian which was later changed to Wiccan. Since Billy is gay the name change was much needed…if you catch my drift! And Tommy became a hero named Speed having his uncle’s ability to run very fast.

However, this being an adaptation for television, it should not be assumed that the show will follow the comics. They could be differently powered heroes or they could have no powers at all. “What about the children?” has been a running theme in WandaVision, in episode 2 Vision and Wanda participated in a talent show to raise funds “for the children” and in the first episode we see Wanda turn a burnt chicken into a basketful of eggs. There is one thing worthy of mention: not a single child has been seen in the town of Westview where Wanda and Vision live!

Episode 103 focuses on Wanda’s pregnancy, revealed at the end of episode 102.  More interesting, though, is the weirdness and feeling that “something’s not quite right” that becomes more noticeable as does the speculation that Wanda knows what’s really going on. The pregnancy plays out like a send up of TV shows where an actress on a show becomes pregnant but their character does not. In these cases the actress is usually shot in close up or else standing behind something that covers the abdomen. So we get a lot of hiding Wanda’s quickly expanding belly such as when her girl friend Geraldine comes over for a visit and Wanda tries using a bowl of fruit to hide her mid-section.

Then a live stork appears like the one painted on the wall of the nursery and while Wanda and Geraldine sit in the living room talking, Wanda tries to make the stork disappear but her spells are having no effect on the bird as it continues wandering around . It’s quite a funny bit watching the stork sneak around the couch and try to eat the fish print on Geraldine’s pants! Finally, the stork runs out of the house. But when Geraldine goes into the spare bedroom/nursery for something and sees the crib, Wanda, now holding a large vase, gets nervous and drops the vase revealing her enormous mid-section.

Then as luck would have it, Wanda goes into labor and it’s up to Geraldine to deliver her baby. Vision arrives with the doctor just in time to see his new son, Billy, then Wanda screams out in pain and Vision notices there’s another baby coming! Presumably the doctor delivers this one as we next see him handing the baby over to Vision. While he’s outside talking to Agnes and Herb, Geraldine and Wanda are inside admiring the babies. Wanda tells Geraldine that she was a twin then Wanda sings the babies a Sokovian lullaby. While Agnes and Herb are talking to Vision outside about how Geraldine has no family, no husband…no home, Geraldine says something to Wanda that shakes her to the core. She demands to know who Geraldine really is and what the medallion of a sword in an oval means. When Vision returns Geraldine is gone. He asks Wanda where Geraldine went. Wanda simply tells him she had to rush home.

Episode 104

It’s the episode everyone has been waiting for…at least the ones who stuck around and didn’t leave because they didn’t like the sitcom stuff. In a flashback we see SPOILER returning after SPOILER. She runs out of the hospital room with the made up made and encounters others returning from SPOILER. She learns her SPOILER died SPOILER. Finally, SPOILER gets to return to SPOILER but she has been SPOILER at her SPOILER request. She is sent to SPOILER to check out SPOILER. After her arrival, SPOILER arrives and they compare notes about SPOILER. They attempt to SPOILER but it just SPOILER. So, 24 hours later a team of scientists including astrophysicist Darcy (from the first 2 Thor films) SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOLIER SPOILER SPOILER and then at the end of the episode we discover SPOILER.

Although the show’s listings simply refer to the titles as episode numbers, a little research has revealed the titles of the scripts which I’ll share with you because here at Comic-Watch Media we go the extra step!

  1. Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience

Final Thoughts

I have been enjoying this most unusual narrative approach of watching a sitcom within a TV show. And now with episode 104 "We Interrupt This Program" I see my patience has paid off as with this episode we are thrust fully into the MCU. My one regret at this point is waiting a whole week to see the next episode!
