Read our reaction after the trailer below.
Our take on the trailer: The scenes shown in the trailer immerses us in a whole world of monstrous beings and that, in my opinion, is its downfall. The charm of the original Munsters TV series was the juxtaposition of the creepy family (and their “ugly” daughter Marilyn who looks normal) with the ordinary world of people that they interact with. There are just too many monsters in this. Plus, the humor they were going for just didn’t make me chuckle. The general reaction to this trailer’s release has not been very good. And then you have the decision to move this movie from its intended theatrical release to Netflix instead definitely shows that the studio has lost faith in the Rob Zombie directed comedy. Zombie always seemed a strange pick for this project considering his previous works were ultra gory horror films like House Of A Thousand Corpses. One of the reasons that The Addams Family films worked was because they remembered their roots. If you want to see an interesting approach to The Munsters seek out Bryan Fuller’s TV movie Mockingbird Lane.
