The Greatest Band Ever Reunites in 'G.I. JOE: Cold Slither #1'

Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading games, IP and toy company Hasbro, announced the all-new comic book one-shot G.I. JOE: Cold Slither #1 from the head banging band of writer Tim Seeley (Rogue, Local Man), artist Juann Cabal (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man), colorist Rex Lokus (Aquaman), and letterer Pat Brosseau (Batman and Robin). The loudest G.I. JOE launch of the year will hit comic book shelves on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

“The catchiest song ever to grace a military themed toy line has lived in my head rent-free for forty years, so I’m happy to drag it out, and write the true story of the scrappy band of miscreants who recorded it,” said Tim Seeley.

“My parents met at a Cold Slither gig back in the ’80s, so getting to draw this one-shot has been really special for me,” said Juann Cabal.

Tune up your air guitar and turn off your free will, the greatest band ever reunites to rock and rule the world!

Discover the true story (or at least a wildly biased version) of what happened to Cold Slither through the eyes of the band themselves (who are definitely not the Dreadnoks in eyeliner…promise).

In addition to the main cover by Steve Beach, the variant covers for G.I. JOE: Cold Slither #1 include an open to order cover by Juann Cabal, a 1:10 incentive variant by Brent Schoonover, a 1:25 incentive variant by Steve Beach, and a blank sketch cover.

Other key initiatives within Skybound and Hasbro’s overall comics partnership include the return of the hit series G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero to fans, from series writer Larry Hama, artist Chris Mooneyham (DC’s Nightwing, Sgt. Rock and the Unknown Soldier) and covers by the legendary Andy Kubert (Marvel’s X-Men). The partnership is also behind record breaking crowdfunding success, holding the two most funded comics campaigns on Kickstarter with The TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Compendium Sets.
